CrossRoads Gallery welcomes guest artists each month, and would-be contributors should take note of the following upcoming themes and due dates

If you’re a budding artist or an experienced professional – or any creative type in between – you’re invited to be part of CrossRoads Gallery’s guest artist program. Upcoming themes and art due dates are as follows:

Upcoming 2011 Themes for Guest Art:

November 2011, “Pilgrims Pride”

(art is due Wednesday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only). We all have a lot to be thankful for (like the Pilgrims); we’re looking for scenes of family, plenty, fall, exploration, patriotism, etc.

December 2011, as always, in December “Anything Goes!”

(art is due Wednesday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only). We love variety!

Past Themes

August 2011, “Western Traditions”

(art is due Wednesday, August 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only). This is our annual western art show to honor and be part of the traditional Mountain Festival activities throughout the month.

July 2011, “Freedom of Expression”

(art is due Wednesday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only). July is the birth month of our nation so we’ll be celebrating America and our Constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and expression. Guest art can take the form of general patriotism or any other form of expression that honors and respects our most cherished freedoms.

June 2011, “Summer Animals, Summer Not”

(art is due Wednesday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ONLY). It’s summertime and animals of all kinds (including humans) are out to play; bring us any work that shows summertime with some life in it!

May 2011, “Mayflowers”

(art is due Wednesday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ONLY). You make the connection: either bring florals, or something to do with big ships heading to a new world, or …?

April 2011, “April Fools!”

(art is due Wednesday, March 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ONLY). April’s First Friday falls smack dab on April Fool’s Day, so lets have some fun with our art – anything goes as long as it’s fun or silly or whacky (all guests and artists are invited to dress appropriately).

February 2011, Love is in the Air

Art is due Wednesday, February 2 ONLY, 11 to 2 p.m. This will be our annual celebration of love show, featuring love in all its many forms.

January 2011, Tehachapi’s Hidden Treasures

art is due Wednesday, January 5 ONLY, 11 to 2 p.m. We’ve all seen pictures of trains and windmills, and poppies and oak trees – in this show we’ll be looking for something that says Tehachapi, but that no one has seen before (or something that has been seen before presented in a new way). Use your imagination – surprise us!

Please note: Artists are encouraged to be creative and make their own connections to any given theme. Artwork will only be accepted for guest shows on the day and times noted above and must be finished, dry, framed and wired, ready to hang, titled and priced. Other policies and procedures for Guest Artists are available upon request at the gallery or on our website. Please call if you have questions.

The Gallery is looking for additional new member artists at this time. Membership is by invitation only, but anyone interested in becoming part of a working artist gallery should apply at CrossRoads.
