Jenny Zur

For December I am focusing on prints. Mostly woodcuts, but also lino prints and even some foam prints. I find that handmade prints are an affordable fine art and great for gift giving. Each print I make is completely hand created and no two come out exactly alike. They also add variety to the gallery as an example of yet another visual art medium.

Jenny Zur offers insight into her latest artwork These two large figure paintings are my most recent works. I began with sketches from live models; the sketches had such fluid lines that I just had to put them on a tough, gritty background.

Honoring Uelanuhi: Apportioner of Time by Jenny Zur 18x36 I worked and thought in strictly visual symbols and followed their lead. Paint was shot through a syringe to create the black lines. After the paintings were completed, I saw in them a story about light and moods or time. Imagine my delight to then learn about the Goddess of Light and the Apportionment of Time: Uelanuhi.
