Cynthia F. McConnell was born in California in the San Fernando Valley , where she grew up with herparents and three older brothers.
Unfortunately, by her own account, her upbringing was “devoid of guidance, love, caring, and a genuine interest” in her. As a little girl, she was told “not to talk inside or outside of the house regarding how she felt, what she saw, or what she was going through.”
As a woman who is now getting the help she needs, that is changing. And as a budding artist, the little girl’s voice inside of Cynthia is finally free to speak out. She has developed her own style of ceramic sculpture, and every piece she creates, she says, is “a part of my past, my feelings, and my sadness.”
Cynthia’s award-winning art work will be featured at CrossRoads Gallery in September, with a show opening on First Friday, September 2, 5 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to come by the gallery and see this new art and meet the artist.
