Who says you can’t accent your watercolor paintings with a modest amount of acrylic or gouache - or use a smidgen of oil paint to brighten up an acrylic painting? I have sinned many times by “mixing” media to bring excitement to an otherwise lackluster painting. A purist I am not; nor am I conformist.

Although I value the works of renowned artists such as Sargent, Homer, and Fechin, I have the utmost respect for present-day artists: Richard Schmid and Jean Chambers (oils), Hugh Greer (acrylics), Lian Zhen, Charles Reid, Norman Kirk, and Dave Rheinhart (watercolors). I peruse techniques learned from each of these artists in my paintings. Many themes for my paintings have been inspired by memories, photos, and sketches brought home from our travels in U.S., Canada and Europe. RV Travel has motivated yet another phase of my art repertoire - that being plein-air painting. What glorious colors and textures are incorporated into God’s landscapes! Nothing compares.

My husband and I share a studio which is located on our wooded property in the hills above the city of Tehachapi, CA. Although we are retired, life obliges us to do something - so I paint and he engraves.

My paintings may be seen at CrossRoads Gallery and GTR Studio in Tehachapi, and occasionally at local art shows.
